Bubba Wallace and Donald Trump

In the past, NASCAR star Bubba Wallace used to speak out against Donald Trump very pubicly. But it sounds like he has since changed his mind on his approach to Trump and politics in general. Now, it seems like he likes to keep a lower profile.

Back in 2020, Bubba Wallace, who is the only Black driver in NASCAR, made several social media posts criticizing Donald Trump. He also called for NASCAR to ban the confederate flag at events and was quite active in supporting Black Lives Matter after the murder of George Floyd.

However, he has now changed his approach as he has deemed his social and political efforts “a waste of time.”

“Investing my time into that seems like a waste of time,” Wallace told Fox News last year. “I was definitely more vocal then because our sport was in desperate need of change.”

Wallace said the “negativity” on social media is a big reason for this change.

“Social media nowadays is just a way for people to hide behind a screen and voice their opinions on things they don’t really know about,” Wallace previously told Fox News.

“It’s just too much negativity that it’s going to take years and years and years to get rid of, and we don’t have time for that. Now, with being a dad and trying to be the best that I can be here for my race team and my team here, that’s where I’m investing my energy so that’s all you can really ask for.”

Wallace indicated that his priorities have simply changed, especially after becoming a father.

“You have your kid at home and a full family to provide for now, so it’s crazy to go through all that,” Wallace said.

This change in approach was on display this weekend when he offered a pretty indifferent stance to Trump attending the race, saying he “couldn’t care less” whether or not the president attended.

“We’re here to race. Not for the show,” Wallace added.

It seems like Wallace is now focused on his family and his career, not activism or politics.
