Ryan Lochte has been banned for 10 months for Rio incident

U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte’s antics in Rio have resulted in a 10-month suspension.

Multiple reports say Lochte will be suspended by USA Swimming for 10 months, following the U.S. swimmer claiming he was robbed at gunpoint and later saying he “over-exaggerated” the incident.

Even though the next Olympics aren’t until 2020, the suspension means that Lochte will miss the 2017 World Championships, and it could ultimately put Lochte behind when it comes to qualifying for the Games in Tokyo.

After the U.S. dominated in the pool early in the Rio Games, Lochte became a bigger story still after he claimed he was robbed at gunpoint after a night on the town. As we soon learned, Lochte wasn’t telling the truth about the issue and later revealed that he had kicked down a door, inciting the money-exchanging incident.

Lochte has faced intense backlash following this incident, even after going on NBC and delivering an extremely strange apology. Sponsors have dropped the U.S. swimmer like a bad habit, and Lochte has gone on record saying that this incident has been the lowest moment of his life.
