The United States Women’s National Team has taken some criticism this month as some players on the roster have decided not to sing the national anthem as it’s played before matches at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. But this week, legendary American swimmer Katie Ledecky went viral for the opposite reason.
This week, Katie Ledecky made history when she won her 16th individual world title, passing legendary United States swimmer Michael Phelps for the most individual world titles in swimming history.
And as she celebrated her iconic win in the 800m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championship this week, Ledecky went viral on social media as she absolutely belted out the national anthem on the podium.

Ledecky will undoubtedly go down as one of the most dominant American athletes in history, regardless of sport. And it’s clear that she’s not yet done building her legacy as she continues to shatter records.
