It took two games but the Seattle Kraken officially have their first win in franchise history.
Following their debut on Tuesday in which they lost a close game to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Kraken held on to defeat the Nashville Predators 4-3 on Thursday evening.
Brandon Tanev led the way with two goals while Brandon McCann and Alexander Wennberg each added a goal and an assist of their own. Philipp Grubauer made 27 saves in goal for the Kraken (1-1-0).
The final score was a little closer than the game actually was. Wennberg put Seattle up 3-2 at 9:54 in the second period and Tanev added an empty-net goal at 18:39 in the third period to make it 4-2. Nashville was able to cut it to 4-3 with 40 seconds left on an empty-netter but it was too little too late for the Preds.
Seattle may still be getting used to having a hockey team in town but the reaction on social media after the win showed that there’s a lot of excitement around the new franchise.
The Kraken had ONE SHOT the ENTIRE THIRD PERIOD and it was an empty-net goal for Brandon Tanev who scored TWICE in the FIRST KRAKEN WIN wow wow wow

The Kraken go for win No. 2 when they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. They’ll try to win their first home game in franchise history when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, October 23.
