The Los Angeles Chargers might be dominating the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Seattle Kraken is arguably outdoing the Chargers for what they’re doing Saturday night.
In the first period of their game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Kraken scored an absurd six goals in seven shots. That’s right, Seattle was near-perfect as they scored all six goals within the first 13 minutes of the first period.
Things were competitive for the first ten or so minutes. A tight 1-1 game kept things competitive but midway through the first, Seattle scored a second and just couldn’t stop scoring.
Matty Beniers scored the Kraken’s second goal with 11:30 left. Then a little over a minute later, Jared McCann scored. Nearly 90 seconds after that, Andre Burakovsky scored to make it 4-1. It only took 37 seconds for Eeli Tolvanen to score and have it 5-1. Then the Kraken topped that, with McCann scoring just 26 seconds later. In total, Seattle scored five goals in 3:41.
That was a Mike Tyson-esque early and quick beatdown. Many were quick to note that the Kraken had as many points in the first period as the Seahawks did in the second half of their playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
It’s not much, but maybe after the Seahawks got blown out, the Kraken’s domination will be some comfort for those in The Emerald City.
