United States President Donald Trump is no stranger to bizarre, rambling social media posts, but his most recent one might sit near the top of the list.
On Monday, Trump took to Truth Social – the social network he started after he was banned from both Twitter and Facebook – to express his outrage at the bridge that Canada is planning to connect Ontario and Michigan.
The long, rambling post stretched on for over 200 words and covered a multitude of things, but one bizarre sentence stood out from the rest.
Tucked right in the middle of the post was a claim that was insane even by Trump’s standards.
About halfway through his rant, Trump made an absolutely bizarre, nonsensical, and completely baseless claim that China will “terminate” all ice hockey in Canada and “eliminate” the Stanley Cup as part of their trade deal with China.
“The first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup,” Trump wrote.
Trump did not elaborate on the bizarre claim any further. Instead, he just continued to express outrage at the bridge as well as the tariff that Canada charges on dairy.
Of course, there is no reason for any intelligent person to believe that China could or would terminate hockey in Canada. It’s not clear why Trump even suggested that as a possibility.
