Nearly three years ago, the New York Jets selected former BYU Cougars star Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But after three seasons with the team, it sounds like the team is making a major move toward parting ways with the quarterback.
During his press conference on Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas announced that the team had decided to allow Zach Wilson to seek a trade to a different team this offseason.
“Where we are exactly, we’ve given them permission to talk to other teams about a trade,” Douglas said according to Pro Football Talk. “I’m going to circle back with [Wilson’s agent] at some point, either this week or next week, just to see how those conversations are going. But other than that, there’s nothing else to report.”
Obviously, this is a pretty significant move from the Jets as it seems like they are ready to part ways with their former starting quarterback, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

Wilson was thrust into the starting role once again this season after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. After it did not go well for Wilson, it sounds like he could be moving on to somewhere else.
