The Bengals defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, as they continue to avoid the slow starts that have derailed them in recent seasons. Unfortunately, it proved a costly start, as star quarterback Joe Burow went down with a win.
The hope was that Burrow would only miss a few weeks with the injury, which was diagnosed as some version of turf toe. However, the best plan of action has been determined to treat the injury, and it’s not one Bengals fans will like, according to one prominent league insider.
“ESPN sources: Bengals QB Joe Burrow will need toe surgery that will sideline him a minimum of three months,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Such a talented player with bad injury luck, can never seem to stay fully healthy,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Browns fan here. I hate this. The league is a million times better when Burrow is playing. I wanted him in the playoffs last year but the defense had other plans,” someone else added.
“Brutal hit for Cincy’s playoff hopes. Toe surgery sidelines Burrow until December, right when they need him most. Jake Browning about to find out why AFC North defenses are built different,” added someon else.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Bengals are still able to make the playoffs.
