With preparations now fully underway for the 2020 season, all 32 teams in the NFL will be studying hard the class of players which will be available to them.
Unless there is a trade before their clock expires, the Cincinnati Bengals will have the first pick in the Draft. They will need to make a call on who they feel is the best player on offer for them.
Here is a look at three players who should be drafted very high in April.
Joe Burrow
As we have seen with the Kansas City Chiefs, who have been one of the best teams in the NFL over the last couple of years, getting the right quarterback can quickly transform a franchise.
Patrick Mahomes was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has led his team to the biggest game in the sport this year, with his side being correctly identified as one of the best bets for the Super Bowl before their clear victory over the 49ers.
Given what he achieved last season in College Football, leading LSU to the national championship with victory over Clemson, Joe Burrow looks the most likely plater to be the number one overall pick. His campaign has been described by many people in the sport as the greatest ever in the history of the college game.
The Bengals have moved on from Andy Dalton; therefore, they are on the lookout for a franchise quarterback. It will surely be too hard to pass on the Heisman Trophy winner who is sure to be an immediate starter in the NFL, just like last season’s number one overall pick Kyler Murray was.
Chase Young
The best defensive player on the board for the 2020 NFL Draft is Chase Young, and he is sure to be on the radar of the Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions and New York Giants. They have the second, third and fourth overall picks, respectively.
Young is a pass rusher who plays on the edge, and the Redskins are likely to have first refusal on him. The NFC East team will have seen the impact Nick Bosa made in that position for the San Francisco 49ers last season, and Young could be the best way of improving on the defensive side of the ball.
The Ohio State played broke the single season record for the numbers of sacks for his college in 2019 in his junior year.
Jerry Jeudy
Not many wide receivers have gone in the first round of the NFL Draft in recent years. After the success Marquise Brown and DK Metcalf had for the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks respectively last season, teams may rethink that.
Jerry Jeudy had 10 touchdowns and 1,163 yards for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2019. Those numbers would have been much higher had quarterback Tua Tagovaiola not suffered a season-ending injury back in November.
Given his pace, Jeudy is going to be an attractive acquisition for many teams in the NFL. He is likely to be the first receiver on the board and could go early in the first round.
This year’s NFL Draft takes places in Paradise, Nevada on April 22.
