The Washington Commanders entered the season with high expectations after reaching the NFC Championship last season, led by a stellar campaign from rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Unfortunately, this season has not lived up to those expectations.
Washington has been ravaged by injuries this season and is scrambling for answers. Head coach Dan Quinn even resorted to taking over defensive playcalling duties from defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr.
The Commanders dropped to 3-9 on the season after losing to the Denver Broncos in overtime on Sunday night. If things weren’t already going poorly enough, Washington also had to replace one of its coaches following the loss.
Former quarterbacks coach Tavita Pritchard agreed prior to the game to become the next head coach of the Stanford Cardinal, and Sunday night was his last game with the organization.
Now, the Commanders have tabbed his replacement, according to one prominent NFL outlet.
“David Blough will be the Commanders’ quarterbacks coach for the rest of the season,” Pro Football Talk reported on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Even in his playing days at Purdue, David Blough was showing a knack for coaching,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Congrats on the promotion David!!!” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Blough can help Daniels reclaim his form from his rookie season.
