Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs has done an admirable job stepping in for injured quarterback Kirk Cousins over the past month.
Monday night against the Chicago Bears, however, Dobbs made a throw that he almost certainly would have liked to have back.
Facing a 9-3 deficit in the fourth quarter, Dobbs unloaded a long pass to Jordan Addison, who was wide open. Unfortunately, Dobbs’ pass was too close to the sideline and Addison couldn’t stay in bounds to complete the catch.
The good news for Dobbs and Minnesota is that they scored the go-ahead touchdown later in the drive when the young quarterback found tight end TJ Hockenson for a 17-yard score.
Dobbs threw four interceptions in the game, but Chicago’s failure to capitalize on the turnovers kept Dobbs and the Vikings in the game throughout.
Understandably, fans had a lot to say about the incompletion.
Multiple fans said Addison can be blamed just as much as Dobbs, with one saying, “Addison needs to catch that. Even if the pass isn’t perfect, he was so wide open, there is no excuse not to adjust and catch that in bounds.”
Another said, “Blame Dobbs if you want, but Addison should get some blame on that as well.”
Another fan was unmoved by the game in general, saying, “This has to rank as one of the worst MNF games of the past 20 years. Al Michaels would be asleep by now.”
A Falcons fans weighed on on Dobbs’ struggles, saying, “The Falcons made this guy look like 1994 Steve Young”
