Monday morning got the NFL world up in arms as an article from The Athletic detailed Urban Meyer’s tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars. While most of the attention and criticism was appropriately placed on Meyer, some also took a look at team owner Shad Khan for hiring Meyer in the first place.
In all honesty, it’s fair to look at Khan’s tenure with the Jaguars to look at why he’s the one who let this happen. Ever since Khan bought the team in 2012, the Jaguars have only had one winning season as they made it to the AFC Championship Game as a 10-6 team. Other than that, the best the Jags could do was 6-10 as head coaches like Mike Mularkey, Gus Bradley, and Doug Marrone were in charge.
This, along with having Trent Baalke as general manager, it’s probably not a surprise Shad Khan thought it was a great idea to hire Urban Meyer. Because it’s not like his previous hirings were that much better.
Whether it’s Jaguars fans, people from the media, or regular NFL fans who have noticed what’s going on, they placed some of the blame at Khan.
Everyone but Shad Khan knew this was a bad idea from the start https://t.co/l6bARqGoMC

It took Shad Khan 8 years to fire Dave Caldwell and 4 years to fire Gus Bradley. He still employs Trent Baalke as his GM. For Urban Meyer to not last one full season in Jacksonville is…well we've all seen by now why that came to be
