The Houston Texans got some pretty brutal news on Monday afternoon as star offensive tackle Tytus Howard, who is widely considered one of the best and most talented players on the entire roster, will be out for “a while” according to head coach DeMeco Ryans.

As league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Monday, Tytus Howard has suffered a broken hand and will miss several weeks.

“Standout offensive tackle Tytus Howard suffered a broken hand, had surgery today to repair the hand, and is out – as coach DeMeco Ryans said – ‘a while,'” Rapoport said on Monday.

“Now, we will see what ‘a while’ means. Several weeks, obviously. Is this the kind of thing where it could be six weeks? Maybe eight weeks? Do they carry him to the 53-man cutdown, put him on injury reserve to bring back? Still a lot of questions we do not know, but one of the best players on their offense out ‘a while’ with a broken hand,” Rapoport continued.

It’s pretty brutal news for the Houston Texans, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see what the Texans ultimately choose to do at the position, but this is a brutal loss for the team.
