Before the start of the 2023 NFL season, Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill made it clear that he wanted to become the first player in NFL history to break the 2,000-yard mark. And based on his recent numbers, he’s well on his way to that historic total.
As Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk points out, Tyreek Hill can realistically eclipse the 1,000-yard mark this week, making it halfway to his 2,000-yard goal before the midpoint of the NFL season. Hill currently leads the NFL with 902 receiving yards through seven games. With 98 yards against the New England Patriots this week, he’ll become the first receiver in over 60 years to have 1,000 receiving yards through eight games.
“It’s been a long time since anyone has done that,” Smith wrote for Pro Football Talk. “The last player to hit the 1,000-yard mark in receiving by his team’s eighth game of the season was Charlie Hennigan of the 1961 Houston Oilers in the American Football League. The only other players to reach 1,000 yards by Week Eight were Elroy ‘Crazy Legs’ Hirsch in 1951 and Don Hutson in 1942.”
It’s a pretty insane stat for Hill, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see if he can get his 98 yards this weekend.
