Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman made a bold statement about Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, which led to a debate amongst fans on social media.
Cousins and the Vikings took on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, where Aikman offered his opinion on where Cousins ranks amongst quarterbacks in the NFL.
“Everybody has an opinion on Kirk Cousins,” said Aikman on the MNF broadcast. “He’s a top ten quarterback in my book.”
While Cousins’ individual stats this season do suggest that Aikman’s statement is correct, the wins have not come along with his production, as the Vikings came into this game with just a 2-4 record.
Considering this, many fans offered their opinion about this comment from Aikman.

The poor season obviously isn’t all on Cousins. But you can certainly make an argument that some costly mistakes at the end of games this season from Cousins did play a big role in their disappointing year thus far.
That being said, Aikman’s statement in the middle of the game looks a whole lot better after the game was over. Cousins played great on Monday night against the 49ers, throwing for 378 yards and two touchdowns in an upset win over the 49ers.
Cousins also clearly believes that he is a top-ten quarterback. He even wore a chain in his postgame press conference that said so…
If Cousins can continue this kind of play, maybe more fans will agree with Aikman’s take on his as a top-ten quarterback in the near future.
