The Tampa Bay Buccaneers shocked many pundits by winning the NFC South division behind the strong play of quarterback Baker Mayfield and the offense. Unfortunately for the Bucs, injuries to stars on the offensive side of the ball derailed the end of the year and led to an early playoff exit at the hands of the Washington Commanders.

Now, Tampa Bay is gearing up for the 2025 season, but it’s looking like the Bucs still haven’t totally shaken off the injury bug on offense, according to one prominent insider.

Buccaneers All-Pro LT Tristan Wirfs recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, as (Jonathon Jones) reported. Wirfs likely will open the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list and miss time to start the season. Wirfs had lingering soreness in his right knee and after good days he would have setbacks. Team decided to address it now,” reported ESPN’ Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Fans reacted to the devastating news on social media.

“Inexcusable. Training staff needs to be addressed. Could have been diagnosed sooner and resolved in time for the season. Always dealing with mismanagement, injuries, soft tissue, injuries, etc,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Did he experience pain all summer i always wonder why they wait to have surgeries when season starts,” one fan added.

“Bucs training staff continues to show why they are the worst year in and year out. This team always has the most injuries every year. Time to be accountable,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see when Wirfs can make his return.
