Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (87) stands on the sidelines during their preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Aug. 9, 2025.

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and global pop music sensation Taylor Swift don’t just set podcast records together; they’re also a real-life couple. This week, the pair broke that they’d be taking the next step together as a couple.

The couple shared the news via a joint Instagram post, according to Awful Announcing.  “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the caption read, along with a photo of Kelce’s proposal.

As great as that is for Kelce, he still has to focus on his upcoming season with the Chiefs, after he decided not to retire and finish out his current contract with the organization.

The Chiefs have been anticipating a suspension of one of their key pass catchers for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, and on Wednesday, the terms of the suspension were reported.

“NFL is aiming for at least a potential six-game suspension for Chiefs WR Rashee Rice for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, sources tell ESPN. The suspension would kick in at the start of this season,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported.

Another ESPN reporter provided news of Rice’s response.

“Can confirm that Rashee Rice has accepted a 6-game suspension that will start in Week 1, per source. Rice will be eligible to return Oct. 19 against the Raiders,” Nate Taylor posted on Twitter.

Unfortunately, Rice’s absence will likely mean an increased workload for Kelce, who struggled last year to sustain the numbers that fans have become accustomed to over his storied career.

Kelce’s general manager already acknowledged that he doesn’t really have it in him at this point of his career to be at the top of his game week in and week out.

“The great ones know how to find it,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said. “They know where it’s buried, and they know how to access it. And they can’t access it at that age week in and week out, but when they need it, they know how to find it.

“We’ve all seen it over the last few years,” Veach said. “There are periods throughout the season where you’re like, ‘This might be it.’ But when the games are the most important and the lights are the brightest, he finds it somewhere.”

Hopefully, Kelce’s body will be able to hold up in these strenuous circumstances.
