Even though seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady officially announced his retirement from the NFL last month, that hasn’t stopped fans and media members from speculating that Brady could still return to the league next season. But maybe Brady’s recent comments will finally convince people that he is done for good.
This week, Tom Brady attended an “unofficial retirement” party in Tampa. During the party, he was directly asked about his future plans, given the rumors swirling about him potentially coming out of retirement once again. But he had a pretty firm and thoughtful announcement to the crowd.
“There is nothing I love more than football, but I have young children and they watched enough of their dad’s games and it’s time for me to watch their games,” Brady said during the retirement party, according to Tampa Bay Buccaneers reporter Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
This is Brady’s firmest statement yet shutting down any speculation that he could come out of retirement once again. As a result, the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
People still think Brady will come back. That seems to be what people want to know at his events. He's clearly done. https://t.co/0rqaKZfE74

While there will certainly be some people who won’t believe he’s staying retired until the NFL preseason starts and he’s not on a roster, this seems like a pretty firm announcement.
