This year, not a lot has gone right for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady as his team is struggling mightily and he has suffered a tumultuous couple of months as he goes through a very public and extremely expensive divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen after a pattern of marital problems. But as he tries to lead his team this season, there is one big thing that Brady thinks is holding the Buccaneers back – their effort.
In a recent appearance on his Let’s Go! podcast, Brady got very honest about the team’s struggles, revealing that Tampa Bay’s effort on gameday is the “most embarrassing part of our team.”
“I think too much of good, bad, good, bad, good, bad, leaves you average and no one’s trying to be average,” Tom Brady said on the podcast, according to the New York Post. “If you want to be a great team, you gotta be way better than average. So correcting our mistakes, improving our effort — which that is probably the most embarrassing part of our team is our effort level on game-day, and that’s something we better fix.”
It’s a pretty stunning comment, and the NFL world was quick to react to it.
Whether it’s a coaching issue or something else, the team has certainly struggled this season. Brady has even answered questions about a potential retirement in the middle of the season on multiple occasions as multiple people have suggested that Brady might regret returning to the team this season.
