The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have struggled mightily on offense this season, in part due to the shocking retirement of star tight end Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady detailed earlier this week that he is still attempting to convince his long-time teammate to return to the Buccaneers.

Brady joked on his “Let’s Go” podcast joked on his “Let’s Go” podcast on Monday that he had one last-ditch effort to try to convince Gronkowski to come back for the Buccaneers’ upcoming game in Germany against the Seattle Seahawks.

“I’ve heard the only thing you’re allowed to drink on the sideline at these German games is beer,” said Brady, H/T Dustin Lewis, Sports Illustrated. “I actually tried to recruit Gronk back just for this game in particular. Hopefully, he goes for it.”

This was obviously Brady speaking in a joking manner, but it certainly is telling that his former teammate is still on the mind of the legendary quarterback amidst the team’s struggles.

While the Buccaneers have not been able to replace Gronkowski’s production from last season, rookie tight end Cade Otton did come up with a big play in last week’s game to secure a victory for Tampa Bay.

Otton caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Brady with just nine seconds remaining in the game on Sunday.

He is clearly no Rob Gronkowski at this point of his career, but Otton’s role and familiarity with Tom Brady appears to be growing within the Buccaneers’ offense.
