While the NFL world continues to wonder and speculate about Tom Brady’s mysterious absence from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Todd Bowles does not sound all that concerned.
On Thursday, Bowles caused quite a stir in the NFL world when he said he had “no definitive date” for the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s return, even though he had previously said Brady would be back sometime after Tampa Bay’s preseason matchup with the Tennessee Titans on Saturday.
But Bowles did his best to calm that concern on Friday, saying he’s “not worried” about Brady’s absence.
“Do I look worried?” Bowles said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “I’m not worried, so I don’t know why anyone else would be worried.”
Despite his comments on Thursday, Bowles said he does know “exactly” when his star quarterback will be back with the team, though he still did not share a specific timeline for Brady’s return.
“I know exactly when Tom is coming back,” Bowles said, “and I’ve consistently said it would be sometime after the Titans game.”
Still, Bowles’ comments have not stopped speculation about Brady’s absence with some pointing out that Brady “looked miserable” in training camp and other making assumptions about how his family played into it. One Reddit theory even speculated that Brady is absent from the team while taking part in The Masked Singer television show.
Regardless of the reason, it does seem that Brady’s leave of absence was planned well in advance.
