The Houston Texans have made the playoffs for the third consecutive season, doing so every season since drafting quarterback C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State University. Stoud took the league by storm as a rookie, electrifying defenses en route to winning the offensive rookie of the year.
However, Stroud’s play has leveled off in each of the last two seasons. Houston is hoping that this season will be the year that Stroud is able to return to his rookie form and lead the team to a deep playoff run. Unfortunately, history is against him.
Stroud will face T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night in the Wild Card round, and if history repeats itself, the young quarterback is in trouble.
“Steelers are on a 23 game win streak playing on Monday Night Football at home and now get to host the Texans on Monday Night Football in Wild Card Weekend,” reported NFL Nerd after the Steelers knocked off the Baltimore Ravens to clinch the AFC North.
Fans reacted to the insane stat on social media.
“And they haven’t won a playoff game in a decade. Something must end here,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“The Steelers are finally winning a playoff game,” someone else added.
“The Steelers two biggest streaks put to the test. Haven’t lost at home on Monday night since 1991. Haven’t won a playoff game since 2016,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see which version of Stroud shows up on Monday night.
