The Houston Texans are looking to make their first deep playoff run under young quarterback C.J. Stroud this season. Stroud has won a single playoff game in each of his first two seasons, but Houston is looking to take the next step and become a perennial Super Bowl contender.
Unfortunately, climbing that mountain may have just gotten a lot harder for the Texans. According to one insider, one star of the Texans’ defense has gone down with an injury so brutal he couldn’t even walk to the sidelines.
“Texans DB CJ Gardner-Johnson was carted off the field this morning. The team fears he has torn his Achilles, which would sideline him for the remainder of the season,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the devastating news on social media.
“They have a top 3 group of starters on defense But depth at LB and the secondary are very suspect IMO, this injury is a huge blow,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I hate injuries and never root for them but this is what happens when 83 OVR madden rated players run their mouth,” another person wrote.
“Dawg please dont do this to me, why does it always have to be my team bro,” one Texans fan wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Texans replace Gardner-Johnson’s production if he is indeed out for the season.
