Despite all of the political turmoil going on in the United States at the moment, especially regarding what ICE has been doing in communities, the NFL is sticking with Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny for Super Bowl LX’s halftime show.

While there were rumors circulating that Taylor Swift or Adele would be performing the halftime show, the league named Bad Bunny as the sole headliner in September and cemented its confidence in his ability to provide a positive experience for everyone watching.

“Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene. As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages, and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage,” said Jon Baker, the SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.

“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”

This received a lot of pushback due to Bad Bunny’s first language being Spanish and most of his music being in Spanish as well, but that hasn’t changed any of Apple Music’s plans.

Puerto Rico on the Big Stage

The massive music streamer said that Bud Bunny would be  “bringing Puerto Rico to the world’s biggest stage” this February.

Fans reacted on social media, and predictably, some people were upset.

“How come the biggest American stage isn’t an American,” one person who isn’t even aware that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory wrote on Twitter.

“Will not be watching the halftime show,” someone else added

“No one wants him at the Super Bowl,” one fan added.

Whether people like it or not, this country will continue to embrace its diversity, and communities will push back against and expose ICE agents.
