Stetson Bennett didn’t go undrafted after all. In fact, the former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback heard his name called early on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Bennett is a Los Angels Ram. The Rams drafted Bennett in the 4th round, likely to backup fellow former Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Rams picked Bennett and then let his resume speak for itself, as they noted on Twitter. Bennett won back-to-back National Championships with the Georgia Bulldogs as well as back-to-back SEC titles.
Bennett’s off-field drama had people guessing whether he would be picked at all. But he has found a home and it’s one he knows too well. Bennett and the Dawgs won their second consecutive championship at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Now, that will be where Bennett plays professional ball, barring anything catastrophic.
In January, police arrested Stetson on charges of public intoxication. Video of his arrest went viral later on. Bennett also didn’t perform at his Pro Day, which led many to question his decision-making. But evidently, that wasn’t enough for the Rams to pass on him. Especially considering that, according to Dianna Russini, the team felt it was important “to get a QB in that room who wouldn’t be a problem or cause issues.”
The NFL world reacted to the Stetson Bennett news on Saturday.
