Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs created headlines throughout the NFL when he skipped the first mandatory minicamp practice with the team. Many observers thought this would be the beginning of a costly holdout for Diggs, who was angling for a new contract.
However, Diggs appeared at the next day’s practice and has seemingly been a happy member of the team since.
That was until Monday when ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, speaking on First Take, revealed that sources had told him Diggs wants out of Buffalo.
“Brother wants out, by the way. I’m just telling you what I know. I got my own sources. Brother wants out,” Smith said. “He don’t wanna be in Buffalo no more. I’m telling you right now. I have my sources. Stefon Diggs got to be there, but he would prefer to be gone.”
Diggs took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday morning to refute those rumors.
“100% not true,” Diggs wrote. “I don’t know who the source is but I thought i nip this [stuff] in the bud already.”
As others have noted, Diggs really had no choice but to deny he wanted out of Buffalo, as he currently has no moves in his deck to force that trade. But this will certainly be something to watch should the Bills fail to reach their Super Bowl aspirations this season.
