The Pittsburgh Steelers dropped a game almost inexplicably to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football last week. Cincinnati entered the game having next to zero success on offense since losing star quarterback Joe Burrow to a turf toe injury, and proceeded to gash the Steelers’ offense both on the ground and through the air.
It was a head-scratching performance for the Steelers defense, one of the highest paid units in the leauge. The Steelers are looking to get things back on track in another nationally televised game, this time against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.
Unfortunately, one of Pittsburgh’s most important defensive players has popped up on the injury report, which could make shutting down Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense harder than ever for the already struggling Steelers defense.
“T.J. Watt popped up today with a hip injury. He was limited,” Steelers writer Nick Farabaugh reported on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the injury on social media.
“This is why the Steelers should be giving Herbig more snaps. This defense changes drastically whenever Watt misses time. They cannot afford to lose him,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Is that the excuse that we’re going with for him sucking so bad last week?” another fan wanted to know.
“He has 4 sacks in his last 11 games. Steelers definitely aren’t getting their 41 million worth,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Watt is healthy enough to play on Sunday.
