The Pittsburgh Steelers know they have to end their playoff win drought before it reaches a full decade, and in response, had arguably the busiest offseason in the league. Pittsburgh added multiple stars such as Jalen Ramsey and DK Metcalf, as well as signing star pass rusher T.J. Watt to a massive contract extension, which made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history at the time.

Still,  adding four-time MVP winner Aaron Rodgers late in the offseason, just before the start of the mandatory minicamp, was probably the biggest move the Steelers made.

Rodgers was incredibly impressive in his debut for the Steelers, which was ironically against the New York Jets, his previous team. The veteran threw for four touchdowns and no interceptions in a 34-32 win for the Steelers.

As impressive as Rodgers was, his health over the course of the season is no sure things, especially considering he’s over 40 years old. This reality makes the recent loss of his backup could have serious implications for the Steelers’ season.

Steelers roster moves today: Signed S Jabrill Peppers to a one-year contract. Signed CB James Pierre from the Practice Squad to the Active Roster. Signed QB Logan Woodside to the Practice Squad. Placed LB Malik Harrison and QB Skylar Thompson on injured reserve,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Twitter.

Brooke Pryor gave more context on what sent Thompson to the injury report.

Skylar Thompson popped up on the injury report late last week with a hamstring. Steelers now place him on IR and sign Logan Woodside to the PS.”

Fans reacted to the quarterback moves on social media.

“Did he fall off the bench…any word on how he was injured? Players are dropping like flies and it only week two,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“We need Will Howard back ASAP,” one Steelers fan added.

“Logan Woodside, why? Get serious and bring Will Howard back from IR,” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see where the Steelers go if Rodgers is forced to miss time.
