The Pittsburgh Steelers have had one of the busiest offseasons in the NFL. Pittsburgh started things off with a splash by trading with the Seattle Seahawks to bring star wide receiver DK Metcalf into the fold.
Then, Pittsburgh sent receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys to recoup draft capital. These moves were followed up with the signing of four-time MVP-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers, after he spent two dissapointing seasons with the New York Jets.
Pittsburgh then went on to ship star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins to acquire cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith. The Steelers also inked pass rusher T.J. Watt to a deal that made Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history at the time.
On Monday, the Steelers were back at it and inked another star to a major extension.
“The #Steelers and RB Jaylen Warren agreed to terms on a 2-year deal that pays him over $7M this year and includes $12M guaranteed,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Twitter on Monday.
Unfortunately, Pittsburgh will be without the services of one critical piece of their defense for Sunday’s season opener against the Jets, according to one prominent team insider.
“Mike Tomlin ruled out rookie DT Derrick Harmon. He says Nick Herbig is questionable but had a ‘really good day’ yesterday. They’ll see how he responds throughout the week. No one else is on the injury report,” reported Nick Farabaugh on Tuesday.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Steelers manage Harmon’s injury.
