The Pittsburgh Steelers added a key piece to their defense Tuesday in free agency.
Pittsburgh agreed to a deal with former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted out the news, crediting fellow ESPNer Marcus Spears. Queen’s contract will be for three years and worth $41 million.
Originally drafted by the Ravens with the 28th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Queen became a key part of Baltimore’s defense over the years. He was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5 of the 2020 season after recording nine tackles including a strip sack and later fumble recovery for a touchdown in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Queen went on to finish the season with 106 tackles and three sacks, placing him third in AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting behind winner Chase Young and Jeremy Chinn. His durability is also a testament to what kind of player Queen is, as he’s never missed a game so far in his four-year NFL career.
Queen was named to his first Pro Bowl team in 2023, after recording a career-high 133 tackles for the Ravens.
The linebacker is the second Ravens player in as many days to sign with an AFC North foe, as the Cincinnati Bengals inked former Baltimore safety Geno Stone to a two-year, $15 million deal on Monday.
