Shedeur Sanders might have thrown more interceptions than touchdowns during his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, but he is still convinced he has what it takes to dominate the league.
During his rookie season this year, Sanders appeared in eight games in which he threw for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 56.6 percent of his passes.
Those might not be the most impressive numbers from a starting quarterback, but Sanders was pleased enough with his performance during his rookie season to give him confidence moving forward.
Sanders went as far as to say that he proved to himself that he is capable of dominating the NFL.
“You can see it. It’s kind of like mastering how to get to that place all the time,” Sanders said during a recent interview on Up & Adams via Pro Football Talk. “You have flashes. That’s the most thing I appreciate about this year is that I proved to myself, I’m able to dominate the league. But I’m able to take completions, I’m able to put all of that together, and definitely in games, we have flashes, but I know I’m capable of doing that.”
That said, Sanders does understand that he needs to be more consistent.
“Now, to do it on a consistent basis, that’s what the goal is. But for me in this past season, that’s what proved to myself. No matter what happened, no matter anything that transpired, you are able to go out there and compete,” Sanders said.
Sanders has clearly proven this to himself. Now, we’ll have to see if he’s able to prove it to everyone else.
