The Cleveland Browns’ voluntary minicamp is underway, and a lot of the noise surrounding the team is about how the starting quarterback will be this upcoming season. On the first day of mimicamp, most of the work under center was done by Shedeur Sanders and veteran Deshaun Watson, with Watson going first in most of the work.
After things wrapped up, Sanders talked about learning new head coach Todd Monken’s playbook and took a not-so-subtle shot at last year’s head coach Kevin Stefanski, who he at times troubled to communicate with.
“You could say somebody don’t know how to learn but it’s like, how did the person get all the way to this level if he don’t know how to learn? … Does he not know how to learn or do I not know how to communicate … So I’m just thankful that my coaches now are extremely embracing me.”
Fans weigh in
Fans reacted to Sanders’ thinly veiled shot on social media.
“Not only are the fans still obsessed with Stefanski, the players are too. Sick org,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He’s gonna take subtle shots at Stefanski all offseason,” someone else added.
“To those who have low comprehension abilities, what he said sounded like jibberish, but for the rest of us, all we clearly heard was the sound of an arrow being shot at Stefanski. Wow!” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders can win the starting job ahead of Week 1.
