Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a surprising announcement on a podcast with Onnit supplement founder Aubrey Marcus the other day, saying he has taken the psychoactive tea ayahuasca, which includes hallucinogen DMT..
Rodgers (seen above on The Pat McAfee Show on April 28) bragged about the plant brew’s psychoactive effects, saying he “had a magical experience” that helped lead him to become a better person and football player.
But one person who thinks that Rodgers experimenting with drugs may not go over well with the NFL is Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe.
Sharpe said the reigning league MVP may soon be getting a call from the league office.
“I’m sure the NFL is probably going to give him a call and say, ‘That’s not a good look,'” Sharpe told TMZ Thursday. Sharpe also said he had no problem with Rodgers taking the drug, but he also thought it was strange for him to do so.
“I don’t know the NFL is too happy about him taking hallucinogenics,” he said … then adding, “I’m sure the commissioner is going to reach out and have a conversation with him.”
“It seems weird to me,” he continued to say, “but whatever helps a person become a better person and find his inner self — I’m cool with it.”
Rodgers was in trouble last season for refusing to get vaccinated for COVID and making “I’m immunized” statements implying he had been vaccinated, while not following the league’s protocols for unvaccinated players. Many thought Rodgers should have been suspended, but he wasn’t. One wonders how the NFL will respond to this latest story, if they respond at all.
