Last week, the Los Angeles Rams announced that they placed former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett on the non-injured reserve list.
At the time, Rams head coach Sean McVay refused to say what was going on with Bennett to this day but did give an update on his rookie quarterback to the media.
“He’s doing really well, which I was really encouraged to able to hear. Got a chance to hear his voice and he sounds really good, and that was really cool to hear,” McVay said.
Back in early 2023, Bennett was arrested in Dallas for public intoxication just before the NFL Draft. Many thought the incident would have an effect on Bennett’s draft status but the Rams did draft him in the fourth round and from all indications he was doing well in training camp.
You do wonder if Bennett’s personal struggles have anything to do with the incident in Dallas but to McVay’s credit, he not only has managed to keep the QB’s personal life private, but he cares enough to check on his welfare.
McVay also didn’t set a timetable as to when he expects to see Bennett back on the team but at least he appears to be on the right track to rejoin the Rams soon.
