The Cincinnati Bengals notched a huge comeback win against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon – and of course, talked a little trash afterward. But following the big win, the team got some unfortunate news about one of their star players.

According to a report from league insider Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network, the Bengals will be without star defensive end Sam Hubbard for a few weeks.

“#Bengals DE Sam Hubbard is expected to miss a few weeks because of the left calf injury he suffered Sunday, per source. The hope is Hubbard – who has started every game and has 6½ sacks this season – can make it back for the playoffs,” Pelissero reports.

It’s obviously concerning news for the Cincinnati Bengals as they continue to compete for the AFC North division title and a potential first-round bye, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it.

“In order to get thru the injuries at EDGE, Bengals need more from Cam Sample. Was the only Bengals player with 20+ pass rush snaps who didn’t register a pressure yesterday. Gotta get more from him,” Andrew Russell said on Twitter.

“Career year for Hubbard cut short,” former Bengals writer Joe Goodberry said on Twitter.

“Fingers crossed @Bengals fans. First Hendrickson with the wrist, now Hubbard with the calf,” Bengals reporter Steven Albritton said on Twitter.

The Bengals were already without former Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson. Now with Sam Hubbard out, the Bengals will need other players to step up, especially with pivotal games against the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens remaining on the schedule.
