Many were surprised when quarterback prospect Sam Howell was still available in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but the Washington Commanders snatched him up with the 144th overall pick.
The team picked up Carson Wentz from the Indianapolis Colts this offseason, so it is expected that Howell will take next season as a developmental year on the bench for the Commanders.
Howell was once the top quarterback in the draft class but had a junior year that was a bit disappointing with the North Carolina Tar Heels which ultimately caused his draft stock to fall.
It remains to be seen whether or not Howell will end up becoming a household name in the NFL, but fans are already having fun with a strange quirk that emerged about Howell on Wednesday.
According to Howell, he only eats one meat, which is chicken, but has never tried a burger or steak.
Howell also added he orders chicken tenders when he goes to a steakhouse and brings his own chicken tenders to team dinners.
Many took the chance to poke some fun at Howell on social media for his diet which resembles that of a child.
It definitely seems pretty strange considering that Howell hasn’t tried any other meat other than chicken, especially since he isn’t a vegetarian or vegan.
Regardless, Howell will try to stick around in the NFL with the Commanders for the foreseeable future. However, he is sure to get a ton of flack from his teammates on top of the typical rookie hazing in the league because of this.
