After a two-decade-long dynasty in New England, the organization has quickly become one of the laughing stocks of the NFL in recent years. And Patriots owner Robert Kraft recently acknowledged as much recently during a conversation with ESPN’s Adam Schefter at Fanatics Fest.
In each of the past three years, the Patriots have had a losing record. And while there are some reasons for excitement headed into the 2025 season, most notably second-year quarterback Drake Maye, the organization still seemingly has a long way to go to reclaim their status as a respected team in the NFL.
Describing the recent struggles of the organization, Robert Kraft described the last two years as “the worst in his 31 years” as the Patriots’ owner.
“The last two years were the worst 31 years of my ownership,” said Kraft. “We have to change that.”
Drake Maye’s development as a player is undoubtedly the biggest way we could see improvement quickly from the Patriots organization. But perhaps new head coach Mike Vrabel can get the rest of the team in a position to be competitive in 2025.
Either way, the message is clear from Robert Kraft to his team heading into the 2025 season. Performance each of the last two seasons simply has not been good enough. So if there aren’t some drastic improvements soon, we could see even more changes in the future in regards to some of the higher-ups in the Patriots organization.
