During NFL games on Sunday afternoons, it’s usually the players on the field who get most of the attention both during the game and on social media. But during Sunday afternoon’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the NFL referees stole the show for all the wrong reasons when he hilariously fumbled a penalty call.
While announcing a penalty call on Eagles pass-rusher Brandon Graham during the game, veteran NFL referee Clete Blakeman got a little tongue-tied while trying to announce the call to the thousands of people in the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.
“Delay of game, defense No. 55, for making a move that’s not necessary and un-like football,” Blakeman announced to the crowd. “It’s a half distance from penalty.”
As for the game, the Philadelphia Eagles blasted the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 35-13 to improve upon their already impressive unbeaten record and solidify their lead in the division.
