The Los Angeles Rams and veteran quarterback have looked more than capable of making a deep run in the playoffs behind the connection between veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford and ascending superstar wide receiver Puka Nacua.
Unfortunately, Nacua left the Rams’ last game, a win over the Baltimore Ravens, with an ankle injury. Nacua was listed as questionable to return after, and although he didn’t re-enter the game, his initial injury designation led to some optimism that he’d be available for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Unfortunately, the injury was worse than feared, according to one prominent league insider.
“Rams ruled out WR Puka Nacua, who has an ankle injury, for Sunday’s game in London versus the Jaguars,” EPSN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Twitter on Friday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
‘I feel like as soon as you guys started talking about Puka being a 2000 yard receiver he got hurt. I blame the media,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“That’s a tough blow for the Rams losing Puka Nacua in London changes the whole dynamic for their passing game. Jaguars’ defense can definitely exploit that weakness if they capitalize early,” another fan added.
“Man that really sucks. He was on pace to beat the yardage record,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Rams manage to gut out a win without Nacua.
