The New York Jets have been loading up on talent with the acquisition of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers as well as a few offensive weapons the team signed out of free agency. But it appears the team might be on the verge of losing one of the most important players on their defense.
Earlier this month, news broke that the New York Jets and star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams were not close to a new deal that would keep the star defensive lineman in New York for the foreseeable future. Not only that, but based on a move Williams just made on his Twitter account, it looks like that relationship may have begun to sour.
As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out, Williams has recently removed all mention of the New York Jets from his bio on Twitter.
“Williams has removed any reference to the Jets from his Twitter page. After the title “Defensive Tackle for,” there is now a stream of periods,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk on Monday. “The move comes at a time when Williams is boycotting voluntary offseason workouts as he tries to get a new deal. Recent reports have suggested that a major gap remains between the parties’ positions.”
It’s certainly an interesting update on the situation that’s worth monitoring going forward.
