The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to get things back on track. Pittsburgh is 4-2, which has them sitting in first place in the AFC North, but there’s still a bad taste in the mouth of the players. Pittsburgh lost its last game to the Cincinnati Bengals, who had lost four games in a row after losing star quarterback Joe Burrow to a turf toe injury.
Those same Bengals proceeded to gash the Steelers’ defense both on the ground and in the air, including allowing the Bengals to march down the field to score a go-ahead field goal in the final minute of the game.
Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin talked about some of the defensive shortcomings he’s noticed so far up to this point in the season, which have made it hard to see the Steelers as legitimate contenders despite their record.
“Mike Tomlin says the Steelers’ secondary ‘certainly hasn’t met my vision’ yet to this point, but he’s not panicking right now,” reported team insider Nick Farabaugh on Tuesday.
The Steelers are also looking to be the best version of themselves on offense, and have decided to part ways with a quarterback, losing his services for the rest of the season.
“We have terminated QB Logan Woodside from the Practice Squad,” the franchise revealed from its official Twitter account.
It’ll be interesting to see if Pittsburgh’s depth at the position is tested this season and it ends up regretting the move.
