The Pittsburgh Steelers, in one of the biggest surprises of the early NFL season, have the AFC North in a stranglehold. Pittsburgh and veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers are currently in second place in the entire conference.
However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Rodgers. The entire season, the four-time MVP has been searching for the right helmet, after his preferred one had been phased out of the league’s health and safety protocols.
“I can’t stand the helmet,” Rodgers said of having to switch to a newer Schutt at mandatory minicamp. per Pro Football Talk. “I’ve worn a Schutt for 20 years and somehow it finally didn’t pass the safety standard.”
By training camp, Rodgers had switched to yet another Schutt.
“I don’t like it, no,” he said in August. “I’m trying to change. We’re in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there.”
Unfortunately, Rodgers still doesn’t appear to have found a helmet he’s comfortable with, as he came out of Pittsburgh’s bye week with yet another model, this time a Vicis helmet.
Rodgers still has not provided a public review of his latest hardware, but if things keep going this well for the Steeles, it’ll probably stay near the bottom of his list of concerns.
