At one time, Julio Jones was widely considered the most dominant and physically impressive wide receiver in the entire league. And it sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles still see some of that physical dominance in the veteran receiver.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed Julio Jones to a contract this week. And even though the 34-year-0ld veteran wide receiver isn’t quite the same player that he was in his younger days, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni made it clear that he thinks Jones still has “a lot of pop in his legs” and is able to help the team with his athleticism.
“Looking at the explosion — Does he still have the juice in his legs, the ability to run, the ability to get out of cuts, that ability to make plays? All those things we thought were really still good,” Sirianni said during his press conference according to Pro Football Talk.
Jones is joining a group of Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers that is led by stars A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, so he won’t ever be the primary target for the team this season. But it’s clear that the team thinks he has enough athleticism to help them going forward.
