NFL star Peyton Hillis who has been in the hospital recovering after he saved his children from drowning, is now off his ventilator and is expected to recover, according to his girlfriend.
Hillis’ girlfriend, Angela Cole, reported the good news on Instagram but said to continue to send prayers and good thoughts to Hillis for his continued recovery.
“Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him, but thank you for all of your prayers and love and support thus far. It truly makes all the difference.”
Hillis needed to be taken by helicopter to a local hospital on Jan. 4, after he reportedly jumped into the ocean on Pensacola Beach in order to save the life of his two children who were caught in riptides.
It looked bleak for a while for the former Arkansas Razorbacks running back but obviously, like Damar Hamlin, he may have made a miraculous recovery, although it’s still early.
Hillis’ uncle said that his nephew suffered kidney and lung damage in the rescue and the situation at the time, looked dire for him.
Hillis was drafted in the 7th round of the NFL Draft in 2008 by the Denver Broncos where he would play there for two years. Hillis would go on and play for four more NFL teams before the 36-year-old retired from the league.
