The heydey of the Pete Carroll era appears to be behind us with the Seattle Seahawks. After winning the Super Bowl in 2013 and returning the following year, the Seahawks have been a playoff contender in the year since but have been unable to make it back to the promised land. This season, the wheels seemed to come off as the Seahawks stumbled to a 7-10 finish and there have been grumblings all season long that Carroll could be done in Seattle, as could quarterback Russell Wilson.
As far as Carroll goes, the guy who has been in charge since 2010 will reportedly continue to be in charge in 2022. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Carroll and general manager John Schneider met with owner Jody Allen on Thursday and that “all systems are go” for the duo to return next season.
While the shine might be off Carroll and many want a change at the top, it’s hard to argue with the results while he’s been the head coach. Along with two Super Bowl appearances, the Seahawks are 119-73-1, have been to the playoffs nine times, and have never won less than 7 games in a season.
The big question now is whether or not Wilson wants to remain in Seattle as well. The longtime QB has said he wants to stay with the Seahawks and has a no-trade clause but has also left the door open for a fresh start elsewhere.
