Lamar Jackson, a former MVP, wants out of the Baltimore Ravens organization.

Jackson requested a trade from the organization on March 2nd.

Whether the Ravens acquiesce to that demand, or Jackson sits out the 2023 campaign entirely, remains to be seen.

One speculated trade partner for the Ravens is the New England Patriots.

Former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski said on FanDuel TV’s Up and Adams that while head coach Bill Belichick “dreamed” of having a mobile quarterback like Jackson, paying Jackson’s salary demands is out of the question.

“Coach Belichick always kind of dreamed of a quarterback (that wasn’t) just a pocket passer but like a Lamar Jackson-type, the one that could be able to run the ball as well,” Gronkowski told Kay Adams. “I just feel like he likes those types of quarterbacks from all the times he talked about them in meetings and stuff when we were going against them.”

He then threw water on the idea of Jackson going to New England.

“It wouldn’t be a good fit at the same time because he has to pay him $50-plus million,” Gronkowski said. “(Belichick) is not paying $50-plus million for a quarterback. So, therefore, it’s not a good fit right off the bat because of that reason. So, I don’t think that’s going to go down at all.”

This wasn’t Gronkowski’s only take on the Patriots’ quarterback situation during this appearance. He also called a Pro Football Talk report on the team shopping Mac Jones “fake news.”
