The New England Patriots are trying to establish the championship culture that has been missing since the days when Tom Brady and Bill Belichick were the acting dynasty of the NFL. The Patriots feel they have their quarterback of the future in Drake Maye, whom they selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.

The Pats brought in Mike Vrabel this past offseason to be the franchise’s new head coach. Unfortunately, the pairing has gotten off to a 1-2 start in their first season together on the East Coast. The two still have plenty of time to turn things around, but it wouldn’t be hard to blame them if their focus was elsewhere after what Vreabel revealed on Friday.

According to ESPN, the Pats’ head coach confirmed that Terrell Williams, his defensive coordinator, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Vrabel told reporters in a media session that Williams has begun undergoing treatment and is meeting with specialists “to figure out the best plan to be able to attack this and heal it and allow him to get back to better health. Our medical staff and the people in this town have been fantastic to help him and get him started with that process.”

“This is a hard business. This is tough,” Vrabel said. “When you do this, you have to have people that you trust implicitly, that are loyal. He’s been that. He has an ability to reach everybody, and it always kept me in perspective.”

Fans reacted to the diagnosis on soical media.

“Praying heavy he fights through this,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“My deepest condolences to him,” someone else added.

Hopefully, Williams makes a full recovery and can return to what he loves soon. Everyone here at The Comeback will keep him in his prayers.
