Legendary head coach Bil Belichick has been head coach of the New England Patriots for the last 23 seasons. It seems nearly impossible that he would coach anywhere else ever again. However, there are reports that one team in particular may be interested in his services and could work out a deal with the Patriots to land him.
It’s hard to ignore the Patriots’ struggles on the season, with a 2-6 record on the year, the worst record in the entire AFC Conference.
It is not what you would come to expect of a team coached by Bill Belichick. And this has seemingly led to rumors that he could become available for other teams in a potential trade.
Coach trades are certainly uncommon, but not unheard of altogether. The Denver Broncos famously traded for the services of Sean Payton this offseason, sending multiple high-draft picks to obtain him.
It may cost even more for another team to potentially get the Patriots to part ways with Belichick. But according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, rumors are emerging of the Washington Commanders doing just that.
“There’s chatter in some league circles that the Commanders might attempt to essentially trade for Patriots coach Bill Belichick in 2024,” wrote Florio on Wednesday.
Fans certainly took notice of Florio’s comments, leading to many different opinions on the possibility on social media.

There are obviously some huge hurdles to potentially making this happen. First off, Belichick would have to agree to the move. And there is certainly no guarantee that the 71-year-old coach would even be interested in coaching in Washington.
Even if he were interested in that, which seems like a long shot, would the Patriots really be willing to part ways with the head coach who helped bring the organization six Super Bowls?
It certainly seems like a longshot, but at the very least it is an intriguing possibility if you are a Commanders fan…
