The New England Patriots brought in Mike Vrabel as the franchise’s new head coach to bring in some of the culture that has been desperately lacking within the organization since Tom Brady was leading the franchise to Super Bowls.
On Sunday night, it looked like Vrabel was well on his way to doing just that, as the Patriots defeated the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team, the Buffalo Bills, on national television.
Unfortunately, New England confirmed some devastating injury news on Monday, via one prominent league insider.
“Tests today revealed that Patriots RB Antonio Gibson suffered a season-ending torn ACL, per sources,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter wrote on Twitter.
Fans reacted to the news on soical media.
“Henderson just moved down the depth chart and Stevenson gonna fumble 8 more times before he sees work,” one fan wrote sarcastically on Twitter.
“Well I’m temporarily glad I held on to Stevenson. Hopefully his two TD rushes yesterday helped to offset the fumble and he still gets touches moving forward,” one fantasy football general manager added.
“Why are these injuries seen as just another day in the life of a football player? With todays technology, you would think there would be improvements to the fields, equipment and workout techniques to prevent this,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Pats maek up for Gibson’s production for the rest of the season.
