The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL with quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase. However, Higgins and Burrow have especially struggled to stay healthy throughout their careers.
Unfortunately, the injury bug is back in Cincinnati, and this time things are looking incredibly bleak for Burrow and the Bengals, according to one prominent league insider.
“ESPN sources: Bengals QB Joe Burrow will need toe surgery that will sideline him a minimum of three months,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter then reported on how the Bengals are handling the situation.
“The Bengals have been calling around to other free-agent quarterbacks since after Joe Burrow’s injury, knowing they will have to add at least one more to their roster.”
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“I speak for the entire Bengals fanbase when I say we want Jameis Winston,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“If the bengals look at rostered QB’s at all, Jameis Winston makes sense and can probably be had cheap. As much as Kirk could make sense on paper, the contract is a huge hurdle nor do I think Cincy would want to pay what Atlanta would ask,” another fan added.
“I expect minimum investment here. If it gets to using your 3rd string guy the season is cooked,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see who the Bengals bring in.
